Individual treatments can also be integrated into our comprehensive half and full-day neurorehabilitation programs which include group treatments such as social skills training, coping enhancement, as well as memory and executive functions. Definitions:
Cortical testing is an assessment using instruments such as neuropsychological tests and QEEG to evaluate the frontal, temporal, parietal and occipital lobes of the brain and their functional correlates.
Attention
Deficit Disorders impair the person's ability to concentrate
and can develop from a variety of causes. Common conditions include
neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as acquired and traumatic
brain injuries.
Learning
disabilities are usually caused by and underlying neuropsychological
disorder such as dyslexia and the most common etiology is neurodevelopmental.
Memory disorders result from an impairment in the person’s ability to encode, retain and/or retrieve information. True retention disorders are specific only to a few disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease.
Neuropsychiatric disorders are psychiatric conditions such as depression or hallucinations that stem from neurological illness, dysfunction or injury.
Cognitive Rehabilitation is a treatment that uses remedial and/or compensatory interventions to treat disorders of attention, language, visuoperception, learning and memory, executive system functioning as well as social skills.
Psychopharmacological Consultation is an evaluation to determine if psychotropic medications or agents can be uses to treat cognitive, emotional and/or behavioral disorders.
Behavior Management includes an analysis of behavior and uses operant and classical conditioning interventions to control behavioral problems.
Psychotherapy is a treatment that uses a variety of psychological techniques to enhance behavioral and emotional functioning.
EEG Neurofeedback is a technique that uses operant conditioning to modify an individual’s brain activity with the goal of mitigating cortical dysfunction.
